Seventeen players from Forsyth County’s public schools earned All-Region honors this offseason, as voted by coaches within the regions.

South Forsyth led the way in appointees, with three players named to the first team in Region 7-AAAAA and four more earning honorable mention.

“It’s an absolute honor in a lot of different ways. ... It just tells you about the quality and respect level of the coaches in the region, but it also speaks volumes about the talent and how fortunate I am to have the kids that I do at
South,” War Eagles coach Russ Bayer said.

He noted that the appointments are a sign of confidence and encouragement to his players from his fellow coaches, and said he took the votes as a sign of respect coming off his first season as head coach at South.

Lambert made an impression on the coaches of Region 7-AAA in that program’s first season, earning three spots on the region’s first team and two more on the second team.

“For those guys to have good years, it means they had good teammates around them and we certainly did. They really bought into the team concept this year and no one tried to be an individual hero. They learned to rely on each other,” Longhorns coach Jamie Corr said.

North Forsyth earned one spot on the Region 7-AAAAA first team, with two honorable mentions.

West Forsyth had two appointees to the Region 7-AAA first team.

The coaches of Region 6-AAAA, which included Forsyth Central last season, did not choose an All-Region team.
