Margaret Yeh saved her best for last.

The West Forsyth sophomore followed up her Region 7-AAA individual championship with a tie for eighth place at the Class AAA state tournament on Monday at Applewood Golf Course in Keysville.

Yeh shot an 81 for the day, five strokes lower than her previous best and good enough to finish in the top 10 of a field of 63 players.

The performance capped an impressive inaugural season for Yeh, who only began participating in the sport a year ago.

“Margaret played consistent, confident golf at state, scoring a 40 on the front nine and a 41 on the back (nine pars, nine bogies),” Lady Wolverines coach Jen Hawkins said.

“She’s had a phenomenal first season.”
