Behind 48-21 after three quarters, South Forsyth’s boys cut their deficit down to little as 10 points before running out of time in a 59-46 loss to Chattahoochee Friday in the Eagles’ Nest.
“We had a good fourth quarter, but you can’t win the game by playing one good quarter,” said South coach Kevin Dankosky. “I am proud of their effort in the fourth quarter, but you got to play every quarter like the fourth.”
South senior center Tyler Laundry scored eight of his team-high 15 points in the third. Taniel Pike added 10 points off the bench and Joe Outlaw recorded eight points before fouling out.
The War Eagles saw the game slip away in the third quarter. Chattahoochee opened the second half by scoring 17 straight points in the first three minutes and 10 seconds. The Cougars outscored South 27-4 in the quarter.
Chattahoochee recorded four players in double figures, led by freshman guard Markus Terry’s game-high 17 points.
