Forsyth Central hosted the Area 6-AAAA duals Friday and Saturday, finishing fifth in the team standings and sending five individuals to state sectionals.
The Bulldogs sent three grapplers into the finals, with all three finalists finishing second in their weights.
Heavyweight Jacob Nesmith pinned his first two opponents to earn a finals showdown with Taylor Skaggs from Marist.
The points were sparse and the result was down to the wire, but Skaggs pulled out a 2-1 win by decision.
Central’s J.T. Tinsley recorded two pins to make it to the finals in the 160-pound bracket, where he fell in an 8-4 decision to Stone Mountain’s Willamani Humphries.
At 171 pounds, Bulldog Charlie Maynard squared off with William Goggins of Stone Mountain for the title, dropping a 7-3 decision.
Also qualifying for Central were Brendan Vanderwant (119 pounds) and A.J. Muldowney (189 pounds), both of whom finished third in their brackets.
