Quartet of local wrestlers reaches state title match

DULUTH — Four local wrestlers were one victory away from capturing a state title at The Arena at Gwinnett Center entering the weekend.
South Forsyth’s Joe Pittman, unbeaten in the Class AAAAA 171-pound weight division this year, was scheduled to face Kevin Steele from Camden County in the final on Saturday night.
In Class AAA, West Forsyth boasted three wrestlers in the title match with Evan Burchette (135 pounds) taking on LaFayette’s Seth Taylor, Ross Anderskow (152) facing LaFayette’s Justin Ownby, and Tyler Everton (160) meeting West Laurens’ Johnny Smith.
Six local wrestlers were scheduled to compete in the consolation bracket Saturday as well.
