South Forsyth’s boys and girls tennis teams had to earn their way into the Region 7-AAAAA tournament Monday.

In play-in matches held at Sharon Springs Park, the War Eagle boys dispatched North Forsyth 5-0, while the Lady Eagles pulled out a hard-fought 3-2 win against the Lady Raiders.

Singles victories for the boys came from Andy Bedenk (6-3, 6-3), Dean Pryles (6-0, 6-0) and Alex Nolley (6-0, 6-0), while doubles wins were provided by the teams of Eric James and Ben Fogle (6-0, 6-1), and Sean Wood and Justin Hawkins (6-0, 6-0).

South’s girls got a victory at No. 2 singles from Farina Irani (6-4, 6-4) and doubles wins from Alex Underwood and Lauryn Nelson (No. 1; 6-0, 6-1), and Laurica Nelson and Miranda Kenerly (No. 2; 6-0, 6-1).

Allie Robbins (No. 1; 6-3, 6-4) and Lauren Grasso (No. 3; 1-6, 7-5, 7-6) earned wins for the North girls.
