‘Horns advance in tennis tourney

Lambert’s 6th-ranked boys tennis team won the first round of the Class AAA state tournament Wednesday. Hosting Heritage (Catoosa) High School from Ringgold, the Longhorns swept the match 5-0.
Jake Bouchillon (6-0, 6-2); Kevin Duffey (6-3, 6-0); and Chase Wakefield (6-4, 6-1) all won at singles. Zubin Irani and Calvin Kraakevik (6-0, 6-0) and Nick Alesia and Sam Schilling (6-0, 6-1) got wins at doubles.
Coach Dan Levi noted that the Longhorns (14-1) have impressed him and made him proud by continuing to grow and develop in their inaugural season.
Lambert’s next playoff match will be against either Morgan County or Riverwood.
West Forsyth’s boys saw their season come to a close Wednesday with a 3-0 loss to Cartersville on the road.
