Madison Umbaugh had won the first set of her singles match 6-1 and was tied 3-3 in the second set, while Megan Aligheri was just one game into her singles match, when the Lady Wolverines clinched the win and action was halted.
Both teams will compete in the second round of the state playoffs during the coming week. West Forsyth will travel to No. 5 Oconee County, while Lambert will host Johns Creek.
“The competition is about to start getting more difficult. This is what the girls have been working all year for and are eager to step up to the challenge,” Lambert coach Ali Conley wrote in an e-mail.
